Does Darby realize that cats are obligate carnivores and cannot process any plant matter, including fruits and vegetables? Thus, oatmeal and grapefruits are indigestible to cats.

Cats hate and despise all citrus. You want to keep a cat away from something, rub it with lemon or orange peel or spray it with citronella oil.

Ah, yes. Foodar confirmed that fruit is not food to a cat.

Whoa! Aside from the obvious “cats are carnavores” thing…shouldn’t Rob be concerned that Satch is in the kitchen preparing to use the stove?

I’d bet he realizes that, just like I’d bet he realizes that cats can’t actually speak.Just because it wouldn’t happen in the real world, doesn’t mean it can’t be funny in the comic world…

Sorry, Bucky, but the grapefruit has no meaty parts.

If you ever get the chance to eat one right from the tree, I hope you’ll try it. You’ll be astounded at the difference.

I’m obligated to be a carnivore too, but that doesn’t stop my wife from trying to feed me salads. She tricks me by putting steak on top.

That’s true, grapefruit is plural for grapefruit so Bucky is right. …mmm, grapefruit.

Actually, cats eat some funny things. A couple I’ve known liked melon, and the little female Siamese I have now positively loves mango. Every time I cut one up, she makes a huge fuss until I give her some. Go figure…

Cats can be vegan. Oh what a turn of the strip, if Bucky were to become vegan.

Have you ever tried a Texas Rio Star grapefruit? It’s a Ruby Red hybrid that just might change your mind.

Funny how people are hung up on the grapefruit being cat-unfriendly, but no one has a problem with a dog being able to use the stove.

Try and tell my cat she’s a carnivore. We can’t keep plants in the house because she will eat them.

If something is undigestible are there virtually no calories to worry about? Yeah, like that’ll work…

I can’t believe people even comment about a comic strip. amazing. I think you miss the point of the comic strip, its supposed to be funny and you take the fun out of it when you analyze it. loosen up folks.

That Bucky. I can hardly wait until he finds out what the “grape-fruit’s what” is! I love the way he is hanging on the side of the door.

I used to like the occasional grapefruit, but now I’m not allowed to eat them. Conflict with meds. I’m supposed to avoid the sun, too, but I have to mow the lawn.

Most vegans or vegetarians believe in animal rights and do not wish to contribute to the suffering of farm animals. But you can cause major suffering in your cat if you force a vegan diet on it. If you don’t feel comfortable feeding a cat meat, you should not own one. Find a new home for your cat, then adopt a rescued rabbit. They make wonderful companions and are vegans.

Sandfan, and others who think that if we just tried the right grapefruit, we’d be convinced: sorry, but that just isn’t the case. Some people just cannot abide the taste of grapefruits. They contain an unusual combination of acids, that some people just can’t eat. I can’t eat them, they’re just too bitter. I can’t eat broccoli and brussels sprouts for the same reason. And no, it doesn’t matter how they’re cooked. I happen to be a supertaster (look it up) and fought with my mother for years and years that there were just certain foods I could not eat.

So, give the people here that say they don’t like grapefruit the benefit of the doubt. No grapefruit will taste good to us, ok?

Funny, minkymoo. My cat would rather have a green olive than catnip. Oh, and Grayson A., cats can’t actually speak? Ohhh…..dear…..need my medication.
