Our relationship with Israel is becoming toxic. We treat them condescendingly while they used us as a big brother to bail them out when they get into a dust up with thier neighbors. It is not going to lead to good outcomes. If we would just cut off aid to Israel, (as well as all the other countries,) Israel would be forced to grow up and learn how to behave and negotiate, and we would learn to mind our own business. It’s pretty hypocritical anyway of the US to tell anyone anything, after way we have repressed our civil liberties at home, and bomb just about every Middle Eastern country in the name of saving them for democracy.
No, it’s the Teabaggers who are full of BS. Obama didn’t propose anything that every one of his predecessors, including Reagan, didn’t also put on the table.
Remember Netan Yahoo works for God. Obama was hired for us American taxpayers. Of course Netan is in charge in both Washington and Israel. God appointed him Leader of God’s Chosen People in the Promised Land. It is flowing with milk and honey we paid for. Israel needs protection from the unarmed Palestinians who were driven off their land over the past 60 years. They are foolish enough to demand back from God what God gave away. Remember that Abraham fell for the joke about sacrificing his son and at the last moment, God laughed and said, “The joke is on you, but since you were so pious and were willing to kill your kid for Me, I offer you Canaan now owned by those evil Canaanites descended form Ham who was cursed for seeing his dad, Noah, naked and hung over from a wine binge. As you know, I always pass on those curses to the youngest grandchild and all his descendants. However, will have to grab it from the present residents who may put up a fight to save it. Have a nice two or three millenniums.”
Obama is tired of the Israelis perpetual stalling. Why would they do anything? The Israeli/Palestinian conflict is costing US taxpayers hundreds of billions in the middle east, and unless the Israeli’s are shaken out of their complacency, nothing will happen as long as we’re happy to foot the bill. Note that most Israeli’s, even the American pro-Israel groups, were NOT offended by Obama’s speech (which, as noted many times, is no different from what previous administrations have said). But N is a conservative and has to object to any possible compromise that might result in… results.
