Ack, I’m late responding. It’s just an expression. Sometimes vulgarity can get a point across better/funnier, in my opinion at least. I had noticed you didn’t like it when someone used the expression couple days ago – I couldn’t resist! :P
Why does a backbone have anything more to do with courage than balls? Cowards all have backbones, whether male or female. Of course, male cowards also have balls, so neither is relevant to courage. it is just a saying. Relax.
