Ordinary Basil "How are you going to break this chain with a flute?" Basil asks, bewildered. "It's a trick Professor McGookin showed me," Louise explains, snatching the instrument from Basil's hand. "His field of study is music and the effects of harmonic vibrations. If I can just hit the right pitch, it should vibrate the tumblers and open the lock!" Louise raises the flute, purses her lips and begins to play. Some notes are beyond the range of the human ear. Then all at once, Basil hears a click. The lock opens! Louise scrambles free. Basil and Louise can't believe their eyes. Down the hall, a door has been left open. "Quick," Louise whispers. "We have to find Beatrice and get back to Helios. We can't let these maniacs ambush whoever might be looking for us!" Meanwhile, watching from a tower as the events unfold...."The prisoner has escaped, Herr Doctor." "Ya, just as I knew zey vould.
