In that beanie (star and all), he looks like one of the UN delegates in one of Jeff MacNelly’s old parodies of that august body. Specifically, the representative from “The Democratic, Free, Easygoing, Nice People’s Republic of Dungeon.”

The only thing missing is the gag around the delegate’s mouth, which some of Calvin’s acquaintances might like to see added.

You’ll sure look good in that beanie Calvin! I’ll bet it will make Spiff fly a little faster too. Although, you’ve been flying faster lately on Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs than he can in his rocket ship with a few extra dilithium crystals!!!

I like the star on the front of it. Calvin IS a star in his own right.

That beanie is probably going to spur flying fantasies of hovering far above the planet. Despite that, you are going to look like a dufus.

I remember awaiting things I had ordered that seemed awesome in my mind. When they arrived, I was so disappointed in the actual product. X-ray glasses come to mind.

One of two things will happen when the beanie finally arrives: 1] Calvin won’t be able to assemble it correctly, or 2] it will fall apart the first time he tries to turn it on.

Calvin is not very smart. Who needs a cheap propeller beanie when you have your own transmogrifier and, as your alter ego Spiff, a fantastic little space ship?

The problem is he is setting himself up for disappointment. He’s going to have a picture in his head about how great it is and it won’t match his expectations.

@agpeter, Smilin’ Ed’s Buster Brown Gang was on radio Saturday mornings from 1944-53. It was on TV through the 50s. After Smilin’ Ed died in 1954, Andy Devine took over as host. It was one of my favorite shows with Froggy the Gremlin, Squeaky the Mouse and Midnight the Cat (“Meow”). You remembered the show rather well without recalling the name of it.

    LW18 (LADYWOLF) said, “OOOOOOH Traaaaagedy!”

“You’ve gone from me, whoa, whoa, tragedy” “Tragedy” - The Fleetwoods (1961) Did you really know this song or was it a coincidence?
