I’m beginning to understand why GrandDad did not want to claim these people as relatives. Only those who have spent a lifetime receiving entitlements could be so critical and demanding about the help that is given to them. No wonder ingratitude is considered the beginning of the spiritual decline of men described in the second half of Romans chapter 1.

Google “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job” – referring to George Bush’s famous remark about FEMA director Michael Brown. The remark is famous, of course, for being one which the former president wishes he never made. It’s been comedy fodder for several years and has become a staple of American paraphrasing.
