The main problem with Texas is that it’s just too damm close to Oklahoma.

Texas always brags about how big their state is and all. They don’t remember that Louisiana would encompass almost 1/3 of the entire US including that “panhandle thing” from Texas if they hadn’t busted it up like they did.

from an Alaskan to Texas, “better stop bragging about your size or we’ll divide in half and make you the third largest state!”

So this Texan goes to Israel and visits a farm, and is amazed at how small it was. He says to the farmer, “Why mah spread back in Texas, Ah’d be at one end at the crack o’ dawn and git in mah car and drahve and drahve all day and Ah wouldn’t git to th’ other end until sunset. The Israeli farmer thought for a minute and said, “I used to have a car like that.”

RayC - those of us from Oklahoma concur wholeheartedly with your statement, although I believe we place a slightly different emphasis on it.

I can’t take any exception to that at all, Orgelspieler. Maybe we could start in on the Canadians next, eh? Anybody who puts vinegar on their fries has got to be kiddable.

Dang, I missed the shell. Definitely a speed bump, pam. Still doesn’t change my original comment. Just means it has nothing to do with the cartoon. ;-)

“Texas used to be the largest state, but because of Alaska, it no longer is. Texans are still very touchy about this, so you should be sensitive when you discuss it with them. ‘What a large state this is, despite being nowhere NEAR as large as Alaska!’ is a sensitive remark you might want to make….Texas also contains many scenic hills and rivers, although nothing like what you see in Alaska.* The Official State Symptom is irregularity.

*Which is much larger than Texas.”
