I love panel 3 …LOL Hobbes’ face… Reminds me of Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy. They often looked into the camera when they didn’t know what the other made acting so freaky :-)

All these great Christmas avatars, and so hard to see. goComics has been studiously ignoring our requests for larger icons.

When our son was 6, he decided he had to have a cape, so he could be a SuperHero! He got so into it, at one point, he even wanted his dad to have a cape too & be his sidekick! Taking it one step further than Calvin! :)

Calvin(Stupendus Man) is really asking, “What crime should I committ first?”

Hobbes is really saying, “Why bother, everyone will know it was you anyways”

You can dress him up but you cant take him out. So he stirs his own primordial soup. What will Calvin be when he grows up?

I’m kind of thinking that Stupendous Man could solve the crimes committed by mild-mannered Calvin.

Stupendous Man did have problems: with his babysitter, Rosalyn.

It has long been my secret desire to retire and then travel from town to town in a VW microbus, doing good deeds and solving crimes.

Perhaps I watched a few too many Scooby-Doo episodes as a kid?

He dosn’t want anyone to know his secret identity because it would spoil his reputation as a bratty kid and he would have to start being good.

Hobbes and mom know his secret identity at this point, but Hobbes wouldn’t tell anyone except for the aforementioned belly rub, or a tuna sandwich (tigers are suckers for tuna sandwiches.)

Despite this comic showing his appearance, this is NOT the first appearance of Stupendous Man.

There was another strip with him on top of a building thinking about whether he should take flight, with the air currents and such, and the last panel shows he was only on top of a slide.

They did mention Stupendous Man in the strip, so I know what I’m talking about
