I got called some names in school. Kitty Kat and “Here, kitty, kitty”. I started to grow out of awkward. The boys seemed to like it. It’s why the girls started the names. It doesn’t bother me anymore.
My name is Dale Miel (Meal) and other kids thought it was fun to call me whale, Oatmeal, cornmeal, and mush. In High school I was friends with a foreign exchange student who spoke five different languages and one day he saw how my last name was spelled and after that he always greeted me with “HI, Dale Honey” (Miel is french for honey)/

The joke is that nobody could remember either her real name or her nickname, and so they’d call her whatever name first came to mind.
