Salesman: V.B.S.! Tres' trendy! Cathy: V.B.S.? Saleswoman: "Visible bra strap." When the history books are written, it will define women's fashion attitude in the late 1990's. It says: "Yes, I'm wearing underwear." "Yes, my strap is showing." "So what?" "Big deal!" "You want to make something of it??" It's feminity with an edge! Vulnerability with a punch!! It's an "I-know-who-I-am-and I'm-not-about-to-waste-my-valuable-time-trying-to-hide-my-underwear-this-is-me-here-I-am" attitude!! Cathy: Ta da!! Saleswoman: ...Ooops. Except yours is the wrong strap. To be really arrogant the strap has to be lacier. Second saleswoman: Also, the V.P.L. Has to go. That says something entirely different. Then: "Mortification" "Humiliation." Embarrassment". "Shame." "Horrors." Now: "Cool."
