Not exactly tabbylynn–more of an already-paid-for one (Val likely purchased it in the first place).

ejcapulet–maybe she wasn’t, but hid the iPod (they’re quite small, and easy to hide) under some mess in her pack.

She either hid it in her backpack or in her pants pocket. What gets me is that her teachers never noticed when it was on. As a teacher I notice within seconds when an ipod is turned on the way they turn them up full blast.

I simply then take the earbud things and let them keep the ipod. Amazingly that doesn’t stop them from coming back a day or two and trying again.

I’m with you Terry1844 - I remember dragging a cassette recorder as big as my textbook to psychology class to record the lectures.

    Ok, who is stupider:

    A. Kid listening to an iPod and not paying attention in class

    or

    B. Teacher too ignorant (who in theory is suppose to be in charge of the classroom) to say or do anything about it

eattea, I would go with A). I think the teacher taught her a good lesson as to what happens if you choose not to pay attention there are consequences. Better to learn that at an early age.

    Ok, who is stupider:

    A. Kid who flunks because she doesn’t pay attention in class

    or

    B. Teacher who lets kid learn a lesson the hard way?

Come on, ET. The schools are in such bad shape today because the kids and parents want the teachers to think for and to spoil the kids. As Ann Landers used to say, “Wake up and smell the coffee!”. Do you think teachers in Japan (or anywhere else in the world) are blamed for kids with iPods in class?

I was in an advanced placement English class and out of 13 students i was the only one not to listen to an mp3 or and ipod while in class. the teacher let them do it was terrible. but they fail its them not her. whatever.

Hey Jadamoo: I too went to summer school voluntarily for one summer when I was 14. That way I got some extra classes and not had to babysit. I was too young for a real job so I tried to hurry up and finish school.

My high school only let us use our iPods, Zunes, or other digital music player when we were taking a test, writing a paper, or finished work early. Failure to do so resulted in the teacher taking it and putting it in their desk (or a shoebox “iPrison”). The consequences naturally got more dire with each succeeding offense.
