I think it’s highly unlikely (and possibly illegal) that a redneck bar is hiring high school students to perform on a Friday night when alcohol is being served.
Why are minors performing in a place where alcohol is served?
What does the rest of the Baseball team think about special treatment of the the pitcher? What kind of coach would do that?
Unfairness may be why the Thorp kids ran away from home.
I’m still bummed about the Gilfather’s double standard with letting Slim do this. What’s to prevent another player saying he has to work after school- but “Don’t worry coach- I’ll be at the games. Don’t forget to pencil me in the starting lineup!!”

If not illegal, would it not be against the code for Student athletes to be around alcohol.
