Calvin should become an author. His imagination could fuel future children’s book reports.

I enjoyed doing book reports, but I hated presenting them in front of the class.

Don’t mention Vonnegut! He used to be a poster here and didn’t know the first thing about much of anything except ridicule and sarcasm. I hope I don’t bring him out of the woodwork. I’m just kidding around! Uh-oh, I ended the sentence with a preposition. Scratch ‘around’! Have a nice day, Vonnegut, if you’re still around! Oh, I did it again. Have a nice day, everyone!. I’ll see you around! I give up. Is up a direct object here instead of a preposition?

Dogsniff,I smell a gruesome, grisly, giant pun here. “It’s ogre, it’s ogre, it’s ogre …it’s ogre! – Roy Orbison

Close quote after the last ogre! I wish we could edit the way we could before all the changes came.

Book reports can be a lot easier these days – if the teacher allows a PowerPoint slide presentation to accompany the verbal report.

Why do Non-English Majors think a paper should resemble a grade school book report. And they wonder why Humanity majors actually get jobs.

If you mean Kurt Vonnegut, he died in 2007.

I never did a book report. In HS had to do daily journals I resented that and wrote I resented it.Calvin would scare most little kids.

Cooly draws? Then where’s the paintboard? Did the alien snatch it from him so now he has to pull out his ray gun?

I hated book reports, mostly because I could read a book, and if you asked me the name of the main character, I couldn’t remember! No retention whatsoever. So, I did what any red blooded American would do. I made up my own books. Made up the title, authors main plots and characters. I would get A’s on my reports, and sweated it out when the teachers would ask to borrow my book so that they could read it because they liked the stories so much.

Hi FlorchiWhen I make a correction, I paste my old comment into a new comment and submit it, but I don’t delete the old comment initially. I leave both versions online, and I wait a few minutes to see whether anyone has replied to my old comment in-between the two versions. Then if no one has, I delete the old comment.

Just don’t expect any action on much before June 1, (Wednesday). I think gocomics (and comics.com) will be too busy getting all their ducks in a row for the merger.

    Things might be interesting soon.

You got tired of seeing the same names at the top every day? That must have been horrible! And you’re proud of making people unhappy? Wonderful life you have there.

I guess I’m just about the only person here who actually liked doing book reports in school . . . as long as I was allowed to pick my own books to do them on. Some of the “required” school reading back then was a real bore and not much fun to do. I wonder if it’s any different today or if they’re still doing all the same old tired things?
