Yet another classic strip! I loved this series when it first ran. I wonder if it’d be too “edgy” for the papers now?

Looks like Calvin is trying to dart out of the room.

By the way, Calivn’s mom is unable to hear his story. When he imagines himself as Tracer Bullet, he imagines himself talking out loud. But when he is seen as just Calvin with his mom, his words are in thought balloons, like in the 4th panel yesterday. So his mom has no clue what he is imagining. That’s not all bad, because she also doesn’t know that he refers to her as a dame.

Hobbes is still hiding. Even though he appears not to be alive when Calvin’s mom is in the same room with him, Hobbes is afraid she will beat the stuffing out of him. I don’t blame me one bit.

All three shots missed. Either he didn’t intend to kill the dame or he is a very poor shot.

Granted, he is a terrible shot; but he is fast. He manged to reload twice and fire without getting caught. Those dart guns only fire one shot at a time.

Calvins’ relentless audacity never ceases to amaze me! His imagination is pretty good too. As for this strip being too “edgy” for today, I don’t believe so. In fact, I see in young people today the total lack of imaginative humor like this. And, as a result, some of them are very scary.

Okay, I was thinking water pistol, but I see the stoppers on the wall behind her now. Just thought that was some kind of accentuation at first.

Hobbes - Waterson never meant for us to believe in Hobbes, just in a child’s imaginative creativity.

Calvin needs to ask himself one question - what would Bogey do?

Man, I need to get me a fedora like Calvin’s to go with my old trench coat so I could be noir cool too.

I’ve never seen a semi-automatic dart gun before. Reloading between shots would have been problematic in this scenario.

Woowie: Why imagine? Today’s kids have Nintendo and CAPCOM to imagine for them. I hope computers take over the world. We are raising a batch of kids incapable of serious independant thought, but really good reflexes.

Interesting strip - this is the most totally angry I have ever seen Calvin’s mother get, but at the same time she doesn’t cuss at him but remains surprisingly polite. Time for Tracer Bullet to get into the ‘ol V8 convertible heap and get out of Dodge mega-pronto. MIght want to put in a call to Stupendous man as well, not to mention his lawyer, Hobbes of the famous lawfirm of Bombast, Blah and Woof.

I read the comments here and wish i could join them but the school i go to made it so i can’t sign in on here. So i can’t get on due to not being able to use the computer at home very often.

Just a little dissociation on Calvin’s part. I too thought it was water from the look of whats coming out of the gun in panel 2 – but now I see the darts.
