That was hitting below the belt, even though that it is true.

I don’t recall Lucy being that much better in the outfield.

Strange… Charles Schultz has gone on February 2000, and he still produce “Peanuts” !!! More than strange, it’s weird ! what is the explanation ?

Maybe the current Peanuts strips are drawn by Bill Watterson.

If memory serves me right, then I believe that Lucy never catches the ball.

Maybe these are reissues of past strips, colorized.

Lucy, it could happen to anyone.

P.S. Schulz retired in December 1999, and the final strip was published Sunday, February 13 2000, the day after Schulz died. The Peanuts strips you are reading now are all reruns. Due to Schulz’s wishes, no one will draw the strip ever again. In conclusion, these are all reruns.

Pouncingtiger, you’re so right. And CB is too modest to cast stones. (Wished he had. Wouldn’t we all like to see Miss VanPelt get pelted and put in her place?)

These strips were originally published in 1964, I’m sure, based on the last pieces posted at comics . com.

Oh, yeah - this is classic stuff from a few decades back.

I do recall Lucy catching a fly ball at least once. Unfortunately, she had been eating a very sticky, drippy snack of peanut brittle or caramel corn or something before going to the outfield (or maybe it was eating it while in the outfield?) and her return throw to the infield had a ludicrous amount of foreign matter adhered to it.

I remember the story line we’re in right now.

    SPOILER ALERT

CB has to take a break from baseball for a while, and the team actually does much better without him. Linus was pitcher, I believe.

You can’t handle the truth!! The doctor is always right, when she’s in. Besides, did Joe Shlobotnik quit when his team was down by three touchdowns in the third chukker?

Original publish date March 6, 1964.

Does this site post original publish dates for any classic strips?

How come my posts are not visible until I log in? Doesn’t that mean that nobody else can see them either?

I think that at the time of this cartoon’s printing, Lucy had beaten Charlie Brown about 100,000 straight times at checkers, and she’s also the neighborhood rope-skipping champion, so she feels entitled to feel superior to him in all matters.

Lucy ..dang..you keep giving CB “Good Grief”.. lay off the insults…and he’ll get relief….

Linus should be here tomorrow… to give us some words we can catch… to set Lucy straight…in the 9th inning stretch…..

Ha, I remember this storyline too. SPOILER ALERT

A while later, Lucy also has a sore elbow and goes to the same doctor, thinking she has Little Leaguer’s Elbow. Only to be told she has “Washer-Woman’s Elbow!”
