What comment can I make? I don’t understand much of this any better than the girls do!

What makes Val think knitting is easier to explain? Is it that MONEY has this Magical Mystique?

Don’t forget that the federal government considers knitting needles a deadly weapon…

And a poker “pot” is the accumulation of money that players have contributed - both from their “ante” at the start of the hand (a fee to play and receive cards for the hand), and any subsequent bets.

If Evie takes up knitting, the girls will just think she’s gone from marijuana to heroin.

I’ve seen the needles, and the damage done…

Evie should play poker with Annie from “The Meaning of Lila”. Apparently she’s a shark as well. Sad that Alix knows what pot is at her age. My 8-year-old (her birthday is today!! Happy Birthday to my big girl :-)) doesn’t know what pot is, other than something to cook in.

I am reminded of an old song (you’ll see how old from the vocabulary):

Somebody fink to the fuzz, and we all got busted Somebody fink to the fuzz, say we get high Somebody fink to the fuzz, and we all got busted Somebody fink to the fuzz, it’s a dirty lie.

Everybody talkin about my pot Judge, the only pot I got Is the pot in which I always do my cookin! How would I know it’s against the law To have a mattress made of Tijuana straw Somebody sold it to me when I wasn lookin!

*”Pleasant dreams,” he said Pleasant dreams I had*

and then Somebody fink to the fuzz, and we all got busted Somebody fink to the fuzz, say we get high Somebody fink to the fuzz, and we all got busted Somebody fink to the fuzz, it’s a dirty lie. Nobody here gets high! You know the reason why! We in the POlice eye!

    ….

Rina, put an asterisk before and after the text you want to italicize. If you’re doing a single word or a block of text (with no returns), doing it once is sufficient (don’t put a space between the asterisk and the first or last word), but if you’re doing lined verse you need to individually italicize each line.

I only needed to use a single asterisk (before and after) to italicize this whole sentence, even though it runs to more than one line.

But for this text, I need to place the asterisks At the beginning and end Of each line.

(By the way, single asterisks before and after give you italics, double asterisks give you boldface, and triple asterisks give you bold italics.)

When I was little, family nights had all kinds of card games (many with a pot_but usually not real money). Many words and terms have changed in meaning since my youth in the 40s-50s. Cartoon could be and have been made of many of those.

what do quadruple *asterisks* getcha? Hmmmm… apparently, superfluous asterisks… and how would one embed images, such as ♥Kab♥ Buch displayed? Semi-colons? How would one learn more of this arcane formatting language?
