I made a fool out of myself, but I didn't care! I just looked at her and I cried and cried and cried . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty covers her eyes and says, "I have a big nose and my split-ends have split-ends, and I'll always be funny-looking, and I think I'm going to cry again . . ."<BR><BR>

Personally I always thought Charlie Browns crush on the Red-haired girl, was mainly because he see her as unreachable, so it’s like a celebrity crush, it’s safe for Charlie Brown, because he will never work up the courage to confess, and so he don’t have to deal with rejection.
I think there’s a good chance, that if Peppermint Patty ever managed to make it clear to him she liked him, he would quickly forget the Red-haired girl, the problem is just, that his selfesteem is too low to notice anything short of an outright confession, because he don’t believe a girl liking him is a real possibility.
