I’m reminded from an old Looney Toons bit.
Daffy Duck is hitchiking, and one car after another goes speeding by without stopping. Then finally, one guy pulls over…
….gets out of his car….
….and tells Daffy, “You know what, boy? I NEVER pick up hitchikers, nope, never do.”
….then gets back in his car and speeds off.
