Wealthy, land(and slave)owners “founded” the nation and wrote the Constitution. Women only got the right to vote in the 1920’s. We had those laws passed in the ‘60’s to bring “equality”. So- it’s the same we’ve always had, everyone’s equal, just some (with money) are a little more “equal” than others– even corporations that have no corporeal body!!

$1.47 million omits rental of an office building, security updates and additional phone lines, car rentals/fuels for White House staff staying at Moana Hotel;
travel costs for Secret Service and staff going ahead of the president, and surveillance costs.
maybe Obama is living like a “rich guy” on our credit card???
Obama is now from Chicago thats where he was a senator and lived before becoming President so should’nt he be going there if he wants to go home for vacation after all he really only lived in Hawaii for about 8 or 9 years
Chicago in midwinter isn’t a vacation I’d wanna wish on ANYBODY. Spring and autumn, though, can be lovely.
Hawaii is a state. It has modern communications, and the logistics of flying a president there are hardly more unweildy than flying him to Chicago. Besides being president of ALL the states, not just Illinois, Obama still has ties there. I’ve lived in California more than half my life, but I was born in Illinois (downstate, not Chicago). If, for job reasons, I had to relocate to the East Coast, both Illinois and California would have strong claims on my vacation time (although, like I said, in midwinter California would have the edge).
The President’s salary is $400K per year. The average NFL or major league baseball player can add several zeros to that, as can a number of golfers. CEO’s and boards of directors on major corporations snivel at such pocket change.
How many of today’s very rich athletic “heros” really care about “us”?
That $400K comes with free housing, food, a full-time doctor, and a lot of other perks. Still chump change for bigwigs at Goldman and Citicorp, though.
