Re yesterday’s question about “whiskey” vs. “whisky”: the word comes from a Gaelic term “usquebaugh” meaning “water of life.” The Scots prefer to spell it without the “e,” but the Irish prefer to put the “e” into the word (that is, Scotch Whisky, Irish Whiskey). So, since Ms. Amazement’s drink of choice is “whiskey,” she must be more Irish than Scottish.
