Don’t worry, Texas; in a couple of years, the Big 12 (formerly the Big 8) will change their name to the Texas Fund and you will get to wreck your very own conference just like SMU did to the SWC. Too bad they don’t have the stones to go independent; they certainly have the money for it, but they just love wrecking conferences too much.
I don’t know what news sources Miller/Hinds use but the Austin [TX] American-Statesman has not been running any stories of the sort they have here. The Longhorns just had a bad year with a rookie quarterback and some big holes to fill in the defense after graduating a couple of (now) NFL starters.
We are disappointed, sure but not bitter. If you don’t play wellenough to get invited to a bowl, then you don’t play in a bowl. These guys are just using Texas to make fun of the whole importance so many people place on getting into a bowl game. Unfortunately for Texas fans, they used the Longhorns as the poster child for this attitude. But I must admit, many Texas boosters have that problem.
I’m an Austin resident, and I have to agree with TexTech: this is the first I’ve heard of any “bitterness” or “whining” by UT. And this town is Longhorn-CRAZY!
So many bowl games now, being in one one has lost any significance. Room for more, though: Soup Bowl, Cereal Bowl, Punch Bowl, Bollweevil Bowl, Toilet Bowl.

Give it a rest. You need 6 wins to qualify for any Bowl Game. Texas got 5 wins. End of story.
