I get this image of the guy in front of the tank at Tianemen(sp) square. I’d prefer the image of Trump under a tread. And DRDONI, Trump doesn’t help my PTSD one bit.
I get the point: The military parade should be assembled voluntarily with the personnel on leave just as the other parades are formed by motivated citizens taking time off from their jobs and home routines. Excellent. It’ll be grand, won’t it?
A military parade that displays modern weaponry would constitute an intelligence bonanza to our geo-political adversaries and create years of traffic gridlock after the heavy armor division tears up Pennsylvania Avenue. The military does not exist for the amusement of the Chief Executive…
If Trump does get the big parade, with all those soldiers and weapons, how can he (or the Secret Service and the combined military police) be absolutely sure that none of them are carrying live ammo under the control of a soldier who is not a fan of Trump? Seems to me that even with a shield of bulletproof glass, the result could be quite different from what happened in Tiananmen Square.
You’re kidding yourself if you somehow think that those six things are in anyway equivalent to each other. None of them can honestly be compared to any of the others.
The US distributes $1.3 billion for Women’s aid around the world – the women’s rights parade does not come out of tax money.
The US spends $0 on gay pride – the gay pride parade does not come out of tax money.
The US spends $0 on Black history – the Black history parade does not come out of tax money.
The US spends $0 on the Super Bowl – the Super Bowl victory parade does not come out of tax money.
The US spends $0 on Resisting Trump – the Resist Trump parade does not come out of tax money.
The US spends $639 billion a year on the Military – the parade should cost upwards of $14 million (calculated from the last military parade was in 1991 and cost $8 million with inflation of 2.28% per year) most likely this will be paid by taxes and private contributions.
If the military wants a parade, they should do what women, gays, blacks, Super bowl winners and anti-Trump patriots do and put on their parade with their own resources. Not force us to pay for a Trump rah-rah show.
There is no honor in a forced, taxpayer funded PR parade glorifying an Orange despot and the defense contractors that perpetuate the trillion-dollar war industry. There is no honor in taking from those who have honorably served our country and now fend for themselves through poverty and illness and homelessness with little or no government assistance. First comes respect, dignity, and reparations for our service men and women who have served our country. That is how you honor our military.
LOVED what Dick Durbin said about the parade: “I say it’s a fantastic waste of money to amuse the president. Take the money that the president would like to spend on this parade and instead let’s make sure our troops are ready for battle, and survive it and come home to their families. Let’s put money into the quality of life of military families who sacrifice with our men and women in uniform and, finally, let’s make sure that we’re doing something to stop the waiting lines at veterans hospitals.”
Only if we have the soldiers march with no guns, tanks, missiles or flyovers. If we’re saluting the troops, salute the troops not their weapons. Oh, and make Trump wear an over-sized gold braided jacket covered in phony medals to make him look like the tin pot dictator he longs to be.

That parade is not to honor the forces; it is to boost the Rump’s already massive ego.

GORRELL, Trump wants this parade for himself – this isn’t to honor the military. He tried to get tanks added to the inauguration.

Veteran’s Day parades already honor our armed forces. The Orange One can just attend the biggest/grandest parade and make pretend it’s all about him.

The Red Republicans want to have a military parade just like the Red Russians.

Trump Disciples seriously cannot discern the difference between a parade honoring the military and a parade Trump wants to honor himself.

And, let’s remember, the women’s, gays’, blacks’, superbowl’s, and resistors’ parades were ALL VOLUNTARY, and at the PARTICIPANTS’ expense…

Amazing how he’s sold our National Parks right out from under Republican’s noses with out a peep of protest from the GOP voters.

The difference between the first five parades you mention and a military parade is that those first five don’t involve tanks in US streets!

Be nice to see a parade of troops returning from the debacle known as Afghanistan
