WWI was about a 100 years ago, Vietnam was about 50 years ago.
I went into service just before the end of Vietnam and left shortly after Desert Storm… and we’re still in that damn desert more than 20 years later. The USA is a fairly young country (compared to many) and most of the time we’ve existed as a country we’ve been in one conflict or another, starting as terrorists against Great Britain and including a civil war when we couldn’t find anyone else to fight with. Doesn’t say much for our country does it?
