I just read up on Gilchrist’s decision. Yeah, he’s wrapping up the series this upcoming Sunday. There’s a lot of speculation on what will happen to the strip (pull it, reruns, new writer/artist, etc), but I guess we’ll all find out next Monday.
Meanwhile, I’m gonna sit back and enjoy the tail-end of this ride.
What fun is Sluggo if he’s NOT living in a shack? He’s already lost his tough-guy accent which was a charming part of the character. He’s just another kid with these changes. May as well be Peanuts.
I had this idea that once Phil and Fritzi tie the knot, they would adopt Sluggo (the strip seemed to be pointing to that at several points with Phil acting as a “father figure” for Sluggo). This works nicely too, though…

I was hoping to see what happens when Les and More are around more. It has been a great strip. Guy really gave the characters life.
