Well of course Elvis is fine, he couldn’t possibly get snagged on a curtain it’s beneath his dignity :)

Elvis does everything perfectly 100% of the time. I’m sure this report will soon be corrected. But really, it can’t be easy being Elvis.

Elvis is remarkably calm. Most cats I’ve known would have brought the curtains down trying to get unsnagged.

The worst that ever happened to us was when our little girl cat stuck her head through the handle-loop of one of those stiff plastic bags and then tried to move and the rattling frightened her. She started to run and IT CHASED HER! …because of course, she was dragging it. She couldn’t see where she was going and flew through the house slamming into things and hurting herself. It was really hard to catch her and she was literally panting with fear. Now I see cats doing that on those ‘funniest cat videos’ where someone is laughing and I think, “That’s not funny. Your cat is frightened and hurting itself. What’s wrong with you?” Now we cut all loops like that as soon as the sack comes into the house.

Elvis, they’re retractable for a very good reason. I say this just after my own sometimes-sh!thead tabby went hunting for my hand and got one of her claws stuck in my trouser leg! Yep. Yyyyyyup.

Long ago when we had a choice as a family between 2 Maine Coon mix kittens (I wanted both, hubby objected), the kids chose the one who climbed the curtains the minute he was let down. We named him Buddy and we were blessed by his presence in our lives for 21 yrs and 9 months.

Our furniture shows the attrition of years of kitties. Curtains have seen better days. Worth it? Dern betcha it is!

Georgia, THIS is a rite of passage for so many catfolk! Thanks for putting it so eloquently! Da greatest! :-D

Love how Puck tries to alleviate any guilt Elvis may have about getting stuck: “curtains are outrageously intricate” and anyone could have gotten stuck. In Elvis’ mind, he is not stuck.

Happy Flyday and gentle orb bumps going out to everyone from Barrie, Ontario, where it is a balmy -19C with a windchill of -23C. We broke a record here yesterday, the thermometer hit -33C with a windchill of -40. We, apparently, have an arctic air mass sitting on us and it is quite happy where it is and has no intention of moving any time in the near future.

Even worse than a claw caught in fabric, which we’ve dealt with too many times to count, my special needs kitty, Frankie (RIP), once got her claw caught in the bell on one of her toys! It looked like she somehow managed to slip it into the wider part of the slit, but it somehow slipped around and got wedged in the slender part. We had a devil of a time getting her loose without hurting her worse. Poor baby was terrified of bells for the rest of her life! Now all exposed bells are cut off of anything that comes into our house. Don’t want a repeat of that day!

Elvis is too professional to get himself unstuck. If he dropped the microphone he could use his other paw to disengage. But he won’t.

. . . WE have resolved our situation of torn curtains and wrecked horizontal blinds. We have resorted to VERTICAL blinds! Our kitties can now easily look outside to see the birdies, squirrels, and an occasional deer. NOW, they want a solar heated cat window perch, so they can fight over it! As if, they have nothing to fight over with, now. lol! ;)

I had a cat very much like Elvis – the queen on nonchalant “I meant to do that,” and “nothing to see here” and “I did NOT fall, i jumped like that on purpose!” Some cats are just funny.

For those who wondered why I hear Elvis speaking with Leonard Nimoy’s voice, this is it! Calm under pressure. Never let them see you’re in distress. Then, on very rare occasions, when you poof out, it’s noteworthy. Perhaps Elvis is half Vulcan.

My budgie-baby had the most perfect toy in the world. This bell. Anything else could come and go, except that if he or his sister were sick and I moved the cages out of sight they’d call back and forth a chirp that apparently is used to help flocks stay together in the wild. He played with that bell, cuddled it when ill, and every now and then stuck his claw in the hanging loop at that angle that got him stuck. His other foot clinging to the side of the cage as he shook the trapped one, but also going “nothing to see here, Mama”. And yes, I tried taking it out a few times and such but he was like that girl in the insurance commercial who’s been through everything with her car, Brad, only no newer model would cause the happy dance. And yeah, parakeets don’t hold still for claw extraction either…

Hello Dearest Mega Orb! Sis has to take Allie to vet tomorrow morning. Blood in urine. She’s nearly 20, and Sis knows she’s getting lots of support from you! It means a LOT to her! And I hope you all know how much I treasure you and your care!

Please keep sustaining them. We’ve each been there. No one knows this situation better than the Mega Orb!

Bless you all and a world of thanks! ^.,.^<

I read all the comments and think – my cat doesn’t do any of that. She got caught in a plastic bag once when she was a kitten, but huddled in a corner until somebody got her out. No bags, not boxes, no getting caught in the curtains or blinds. Not afraid of the shots or vet anymore either. I think I have a dog in cat clothes.

I had a kitten that somehow got his claw stuck in the gap between the body panels of my car. And believe me, it was STUCK! At first I tried get it out by lubricating it with vegetable oil. That didn’t work, but he managed to get it all over himself in his struggles. He smelled like fish-and-chips for weeks.

In the end I needed to get a screwdriver and pry apart the panels.
