The original meaning of “a coons age” was a raccoon, but someone got very upset when I used it that way1 I honestly didn’t know why. We are getting too P.C. in my opinion.
Black Friday came from the use of black ink in ledgers to indicate a profit (red indicating a loss). I still don’t know when the term became insulting.
