Isn’t it funny how pervasive politics are?? It seems politics color every aspect of our lives anymore. Will Rogers once said " if you want to get Uncle Sam off your back, you need to get your hand out of his pocket". While Will Rogers was a funny man, he did live in a different time, a simpler time. But it is the truth of our times that politics are invasive and intrusive because we rely on politics more than we ever have in all of our history. We rely on government restrictions and regulations to keep our water and our food and our air …clean and pure..?. We rely on government restrictions and regulations to keep us from being ripped off by big corporations. No.? Well, We rely on government restrictions and regulations to govern how men choose to treat women in the workplace …?? Well, Maybe not that so much. …..Okay moving on…We rely on government restrictions and regulations to keep us from being gunned down at concerts, on the street, in churches …oh no… let me… Well, maybe not gun control….
So, watch the game and stop thinking about politics, I don’t understand what the problem is. If it is the National Anthem, go get more beer, ya big old patriot you.
Yeah, all that stuff like government building stadiums for the ought to be kept out of sight. And it definitely is kept out of sight.
We also need to ignore the fact that virtually all the payments for luxury boxes and the most expensive seats are tax writeoffs, including the luxury boxes for city officials that approve the tax giveaways, er, I mean subsidies.
Only the taxpayer funded ‘tributes to the military’ should be allowed, including all the violations and disrespect to the flag.
Very telling. Yes, regressive knuckle draggers consider fundamental human rights, including the right to not be murdered by police, to be a political issue, negotiable and subject to compromise. Punish the perps and stop demonizing the victims.
You want to de-politicize sports? Start by ending the practice of the playing the anthem and waving flags. Ban the military from paying the NFL to use the players as “patriot props”.
