Well I guess that’s (almost) a wrap on this box!

“Would you like it wrapped,” asked the mall employee of the mall from where Jon bought the gift. “Yes,” replies Jon, “at home for free!” Big mistake.

This has happened to me too many times to count. Now I use gift bags. And that’s the third time I’ve mentioned gift bags in comments so far today!

Had that problem once. Turned the box diagonally and it fit. Barely. The corners of the paper just BARELY overlapped near the middle of the box.

What, you don’t have any duct tape to fill in the gap? You’re a bachelor, man! Although if this is for Liz, I guess you might not want to take that approach.

My son-in-law’s Christmas wish was goose decoys. The box was so big that, starting with a full roll, there was still 1/2" uncovered; and that’s how he will get it.

I do what my sister calls “man wrapping”: put it in a cardboard box, tape it up, add a bow.

This is why when I give gifts, I always resort to bags stuffed with tissue paper. Much easier and less frustrating than wrapping.

Turn the box 90 degrees and I’ll bet it fits.

When all else fails, make sure the gap is on the bottom of the box, where it’s not readily seen.

wrap the box so the edges of the wrap come together on the bottom.

I can’t wrap presents. But it’s not like I have a family of my own so I hardly have anybody to buy for.

One more reason to buy gift bags instead of wrapping paper.

It’s simple – always have extra-wide ribbon on hand for this sort of thing, or use overlapping ribbon wrapped around to cover the gap.

It should have just made it all the way around – and then Jon notices it’s not wide enough to cover the box sides

Yup—been there, done that, unfortunately. Always a pain in the you-know-what.

Wonder what Odie’s up to this holiday season? Seems like we’ve barely seen him in the past few weeks/months …
