The irony is that the public need for gun control is at its highest at precisely when we have the president whose presence most justifies the Framers’ original intent for the 2nd Amendment in the first place.

Something ELSE to be REALLY CONCERNED about…

President Trump offered some confusing comments in front of reporters Thursday night, when at an event for military officials and their spouses he suggested the moment represented “the calm before the storm.”

Mr. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, flanked by military spouses for a photo op at the White House, said, “You guys know what this represents? Maybe it’s the calm before the storm,” the president said.

Pressed on what he meant, Mr. Trump said “we have the world’s great military people” in the room.

Asked yet again for an answer, Mr. Trump said “you’ll find out.”

The president then bid everyone a good night, without clarifying his comments.

FFs were smart enough to know they didn’t know everything that would happen in the future, which is why they put in the ‘necessary and proper’ clause, and the amendment process.

Of course, they assumed presidents and the overwhelming majority of legislators would respect the constitution they made.

Anyone more Disturbed than I am over Trump’s comments from the other night? Trump’s ego has been aroused. Paddock has aroused Trump’s ego. Who has bigger and better weapons than Paddock? Why Trump of course. Who can make a bigger kill record then Paddock? Why Trump of course. Trump can kill millions and millions not just hundreds. Trump is going to involve us in a nuclear Third World War just so that his ego is placated by having a bigger place in history than Paddock.

Ummm. The 2nd Amendment says nothing about guns, doesn’t use the word once – not “pistol”, “musket”, or “rifle”, either. it says “arms.” That is any weapon – nuclear, chemical, bomb-vest, landmine, cannon, tank, etc. So…if you are ok with common sense regulations keeping your neighbor from stockpiling chemical weapons in their shed, building a nuclear bomb in their garage, putting landmines in their front yard, or open carrying a bomb vest on the bus, then you really shouldn’t have a problem with regulating guns.

The NRA was established shortly after the Civil War to promote Gun Safety. During the War many Union Soldiers were shot in gun accidents.

The Second Amendment also mentions a “well regulated militia.” Militias were formed to catch runaway slaves!

Can’t talk about gun control, but Congress is pushing another limit on abortion (illegal after 20 weeks disregarding that birth defect tests can’t be done before 20 weeks). Today Trump is allowing companies to claim religion as reason not to cover birth control despite BC being the BEST way to limit abortions.

Just saw a story on TV about women that claim they didn’t like guns before but now they are AR-15 enthusiasts; one said it was because she felt she needed personal protection after Katrina. “Just like hearing the ping-ping-ping when I’m shooting” was one of their comments.

.As far as personal protection is concerned, my husband (retired police) suggests a shotgun. The sound of racking the shotgun is usually enough to scare someone off.
