Just when you thought he couldn’t POSSIBLY be any stupider…Trump at Puerto Rico military briefing: “Amazing job. So amazing we are ordering hundreds of millions of dollars of new airplanes for the Air Force, especially the F-35. You like the F-35? … You can’t see it. You literally can’t see it. It’s hard to fight a plane you can’t see”!
Yeah, when you have no power and no drinking water and you’re up to your neck in contaminated flood water, what could be better than hearing your moron leader brag about spending $1.5 trillion on some airplane we don’t need?
This has gotten so bad that even the military branches are objecting to the money the Republicans are “throwing” at the development of ‘new weapons’! The WHOLE POINT of these wild spending sprees of the G.O.P. is to feather the ‘nests’ of government contractors back home who will remember the largess lavished on them and continue to contribute mightily to the reelection campaigns of those responsible. It’s now almost impossible to detect G.O.P. spending on ANYTHING that isn’t aimed at getting them reelected – and yes, the Democrats are almost as bad. The main difference is that Democrats attempt to lavish funds on PEOPLE who will VOTE for them, whereas Republicans lavish money on entities that will give them MONEY that THEY can then decide how to spend!
Trump said the hurricane relief for Puerto Rico threw our budget a little out of whack, but in response he has heard only thank yous from Puerto Ricans. He also told them they should be proud for avoiding a real catastrophe like Katrina.
Trump did talk about the F-35s on the ground in Puerto Rico. He complained about the price tag of Puerto Rico recovery then bragged about the military boondoggle. The Air Force has called the F-35s “Game-changing technology, awesome airplane” Trump touted the F-35, “You can’t see it. Literally you can’t see it. So it’s hard to fight a plane that you can’t see, right?” He talked about the deal he made to cut the price of the plane, while grumbling about the cost of helping people in Puerto Rico.
I can and do yell about the weapons industry and its pet War Department (calling it for what it is – there are SEVEN currently in progress) day in and day out, but seeing it so succinctly illustrated by Matt Wuerker at least lets me know that I’m not alone in my observations. Many thanks, Mr. Wuerker.
The stupid president is fighting with the stupid Secretary of State while we are at war in the mid-east and threatening to start a war with N Korea. Really we need to get these ignorant, uncaring Republicans out of office.

Also notable the 35 was supposed to be cheaper than the failed F-22, now we’ve paid more for the failed F-35.

The F-35 program has been losing money for how long?

Republicans revel in death and destruction and they love money and only spend it on killing machines.

Yeah because the Air Force could SO easily gain air supremacy over Europe by employing a few thousand Puerto Ricans.

I was at an Air Show a few years ago and watched the F35 make a power climb. I think the P-51 outclimbed it.

For the money we spend on military perks we could give everyone in America a free college education and health care.
If you would like that to happen, stop voting Republican.
