So the pro-slavery, nazi, white supremacists armed to the teeth, helmets on and ready to rumble, spewing hate and divisiveness are equivalent, in your fevered state, to those who gathered to protest them? I support the ACLU’s fight to make sure speech is protected (and give them money to do so) but violence to support an immoral cause such as treason and slavery is unacceptable.
As it turned out in Charlottesville, the nazis were primed and loaded and would have hurt a lot more people given the chance. Remember they were there to "protect their southern heritage and way of life” which means they were there to celebrate treason, racism, and slavery. If it takes being politically correct to denounce treason, racism, and slavery, then we really are doomed. By the way, my dad was a southerner, so I know all about the spurious claims that the war was fought to protect “states’ rights.”
