That is totally unfair to the Senator, who dragged himself back to lecture the Senate on the fact that it’s going the wrong way and who only voted to open debate so he could vote against the bill. Congress, the President and the Supremes had cadillac health care coverage long before there was an Obamacare, and will continue to have it long after most of us are dead and buried because the ‘peer reviewers’ who are rewarded for denying our claims condemned us to die of treatable illnesses…

Valar Morgulis. You are what you do. The blood of thousands of GI’s and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi’s and Afghans is on the hands of this man. If he weren’t dying he would add the blood of millions of Americans more….and for what? Valar Morgulis

Many things that go wrong in the world are due to good men doing bad things. If good eventually comes of it, it’s only after much human suffering. McCain has deposited his well-intentioned actions many times, and left them in the political road for others to clean up when they go bad. A horse leaves its droppings, and eventually they fertilize plants and flowers. But in the meantime…

Republicans enjoy denying life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to Americans. They favor the rich and corporations, the military and the police.

She got no standing ovation. She got no mainstream media lauds for her heroism. She got no kudos for leaving home, a much longer journey than that other senator, the one from Arizona, to get to DC, and there are no mainstream media stories on it that I can find… I only found out from a friend who spotted it on Twitter.

She didn’t do it for publicity.

Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii was just doing her job as a good politician, voting not to repeal the ACA so as to protect her constituents. She has Stage Four kidney cancer — that means scarce chances of survival — is recovering from a second surgery to remove part of a rib, and made sure she got to her seat in the Senate Chamber to vote “no” to whatever Republican wealth-care crap was thrown at her.

But you’ll only find out about it on social media. Because she’s not a pale male, maybe?

No one voted to deny health care to anyone. This isn’t Britain. They voted to stop forcing other people to pay for health care for other people.

McCain voted against the Repeal only bill that was offered up. After McCain gave an impassioned speech (that the Senate needed to hear) he turned around and voted along party line to start the debate on repealing healthcare for Americans (after using his to survive to make this vote). His vote makes it clear he is ready to secure amendments on the broad repeal-and-replace bill. His vote shows support, at least for this process.

McCain has a handful of amendments, all dealing with Medicaid. One of them would extend the phase out of the Medicaid expansion to 10 years, considerably longer than the bills under consideration. Another would increase the growth rate for Medicaid payments to states to better reflect health care inflation. the amendments would “ensure our citizens who are most in need do not have the rug pulled out from under them.”

Being very brave or getting terminal cancer, however horrible, doesn’t entitle one to a free moral pass. It is almost impossible to be a moral role model and a Republican.

Chris Ray, do you write a check or swipe a card for the full cost of any medical interface that you engage in? If not, the rest of us are covering your butt.
