I’m really not sure why they need backpacks at all.
At least they’d be lighter to carry without all those books. I agree K_APLIN, but I think it a status thing like Sammy is saying. I’d let them pick one out online, get it and go on with life as Mom said.
We had lockers in my day – they don’t have those anymore. I’ve seen some backpacks with wheels which makes more sense – saves the back.
