I’ve done that. Been on an outing when the food was left behind. Everyone had their own munchie-type items and quite a collection of forms of alcohol. It was the last night of a roughly 10 day canoe trip in the Adirondacks. It was raining buckets, but one of the trip leaders got a blazing fire going nonetheless. We had cooking gear and utensils, and the “spice bag”, but not the entree. So we pooled all the various wines, fortified that with a little liquor of some kind like vodka or rum, and selections from the spice bag, & made mulled wine. With all the munchie items, a few lunch leftovers, and a lot of alcohol, it turned into the best night of the trip. Everyone slept like a log.
