Brass, the social collapse is happening. But it’s not happening because the wealthy pay too much in taxes. It’s happening because the republicans want to shrink government so you can drown it in the bathtub. The poor and dispossessed are only a small part of the deteriorating conditions for much of the lower middle class. Now formerly solid middle class folks are feeling the pain. Education, health care, housing and other essentials often require more than one income, and even that’s not enough in case of emergencies.
I’m pretty wealthy by anyone’s standards (except the billionaires), and am a well-educated, well-informed, well-traveled, business owner with a thriving global operation. Also, I’m in the institutional money business, which seems pretty ascendant these days as human activity has become increasingly monetized.
So none of the foul stench coming from the mentally ill “president” impacts me much. None of the republican racism or misogyny really hits home for me, either. In fact, none of the republican crap impacts me personally at this point, except, perhaps to lower my taxes and boost my equity portfolio’s value.
However, I empathize with those who are struggling and I, for one, don’t mind paying taxes that help take care of the poor, the dispossessed, the children, the sick and the elderly. (And I GUARANTEE you I pay taxes that amount to many multiple times over the average American annual household income, so don’t whine about YOUR taxes!!) But mark my words, as the inequality and misery increase for those on the lower half of the American socioeconomic scale, social unrest is sure to follow.

No one seems to want to tackle Jim Wright’s question:
Is health care a right?
Or NOT?

And…
Any reactions to Trump’s comments about the Republican ‘health care’ plan?

I find myself at a loss for words that would be printable to describe my feelings for McConnell and Ryan.
