The problem with “meddling” in those elections is that they aren’t really “elections.” Assad, Putin, Ghani etc. were “elected,” I guess. We have problems with our system, but when the courts or the “Fearless Leader” can peremptorily rule INDIVIDUAL candidates off the ballot, or arrest them, there IS no “election!”
Most Americans have no idea that we’re now the #1 exporter of oil thanks to the tar sands & fracking boom, which is the real reason why the coal industry is dead. Most Americans are unaware of our long term plan to switch Europe off Russian oil, creating revenue that would help pay down our national debt and fund our infrastructure.
The bottom line is either we go bust or Russia goes bust. Rather it happened to them than us.
If Trump succeeds in sabotaging our long term agenda to earn revenue from Europe, all so that he could save Russia’s economy instead of ours, along with whatever business dealings he has with them by extension like the treasonous orange clown that he is, then we will forever be at the mercy of the austerity scolds in both parties who are exploiting the specter of default due to our rising national debt in order to create excuses for privatization and cuts to our way of life in order to pay down that debt, Greece style.
Good point, because other countries meddle in elections, we should welcome all foreign powers to select our leaders for us, no matter how incompetent. There is little we should do because this is the norm now.

A little bit of irony for you. At least, Russia did it without guns.

And Russia meddled with our election, too. But that was okay, because it helped Donald Trump to win. That happened currently, not 30 years ago…
