So get rid of blue dogs and republicans and make congress totally progressive. Only that will get us out of this “NO!” Party induced recession.

To an extent, I agree with jimxo0067. First let them repeal the tax loopholes that make it profitable to export jobs to other countries. I understand this has been filibustered by the Republicans 4 times this year.

harley: we ALREADY have a flat tax, or very close to it - but the GOP wants to change it for the rich! http://www.ctj.org/pdf/taxday2010.pdf

^Justice 22 I am not sure but I don’t think the repubs have actually fillibustered lately. All they have to do is threaten to fillibuster and the bills go down. I think showing them on TV reading the phone book would be a good thing. Here in FL we are still paying a sales tax to give the Glazers a stadium. But you can’t watch the Bummaneers on TV because it’s blacked out.

I can’t see how asking a company that has moved it’s manufacturing overseas to pay the same as a company that stays here is punishment. Overseas= 0% income tax. Here= 28% income tax.

Overseas, no healthcare to pay. Here $600 to $900 per month per employee. Overseas, little or no environmental laws to obey. Here, Several agencies looking out for your health.

Rock, one objection equals a filibuster.

Harley, Your fair tax is anything but fair. There are several versions of it out there and if you add state sales tax to the 23% flat tax, You get people paying 30% or more tax on every purchase. The flat tax started out at 10%. What happened? Since I have very little left over at the end of the month, Where is this tax money going to come from? I guess from the little income tax I pay now? Of course I won’t be paying anything on my capital gains or trading stock or short term government bonds.

“Democrats are holding up Legislation too as many Democrats are not too keen on Obama’s Vision”

I know right, upholding the 1st and 14th Amendments are such bad things to do. If we only cared about the 2nd Amendment, well then everyone would get along.

Remember term limits? Where are the pol’s who ran on the promise 3 terms and home? They’re running for their 5th or 6th term!

jack, Wing-Nut, don’t be more ignorant than you have to. Brobst referred to “progressive,” not “socialist.” And neither are authoritarian, jack, that’s just wrong. And DON’T say the Nazis were socialist, because they weren’t. Hitler moved them away from mainstream socialism into fascism. Teddy Roosevelt was a progressive, and frankly a lot of what progressives want is what he proposed in 1901 - including a national health insurance plan and constraints on the power big business had over regular Americans. Go read up on your history.

Thanks, mm, I was about to back up Brobst myself.

jack and wing probably want a government authoritative enough to define marriage for all Americans, or decide what stem cell research may be performed, but as for business..well, you can trust all the kind and generous business owners and CEOs to hire us all and give us health insurance, as soon as we cut all their taxes.
