It probably means “scored a zero”.

Either that or it’s the world’s vaguest premonition about a book that hadn’t been written when Darby made this strip in 2005: Take the Donut, A Kelly Clark Mystery Book Three (Volume 3).

so, strip was written in 2005.12 years later and and soccer is still the sport no American cares about.

“Take the donut” Big fat 0. No goals. Can refer to a player or team. Is not a Brit thing – a regional (NE?) US expression.

This is Rugby, a bit like football without the body armour. The doughnut is the thing the kicker places the ball on to kick a penalty.

I’m guessing that “take the donut” means scoring zero. I did a Google search and found nothing, not even in Urban Dictionary. I guess, I just took the donut.

Oh dear…quiet sweet Satchel has anger issues. It makes sense, since he only goes ballistic occasionally, like a toper who only falls off the wagon a couple of times a year…

Note to self: hands off Satchel’s Krispy Kremes! Satchel don’t share donuts!
