True story: I once called tech support, discovered that he had never done anything with my type of computer, and when I asked if I should just call back and get someone familiar with my system, he said, “No, I need to learn how to do this for the next time someone with your system calls.”
The sad part is many users are like Larry. They have no idea what you are talking about so you can help them. If you have a device or computer learn a little about it so if something goes wrong you can understand what tech is talking about.
Reminds me of an old one – short version – caller had to get a flashlight to see if the PC was plugged in. It was too dark to see because the power was out….
At first, this made me angry. But then I remembered that I was laid off from three high tech jobs when the companies decided to hire non-tech people because the “click-through” tool we techs were forced to develop meant they no longer needed to use people who actually knew how the equipment worked.

It is plugged in? Well then I’ll have to escalate it. Here’s the reference number. We’ll get back to you in 3-4 days. (Which they don’t)

And me out of tech support job soon, too! In fact, whoever hired Larry should be fired!
Then, that guy can sue Cartoon-Boy for causing him to lose his job! Lawyer me that, ’toon-Boy!

And I’m guessing that Larry is working from Indiana because he misunderstood what his bosses told him to do.
