Republicans didn’t work against Obama because he was Black. They worked against Obama because he was a Democrat. Being Black was just a convenient tool they could use to influence ignorant people, who make up a large part of their base. After all, when you know that your party’s run by people who are in the pocket of big business and you have to appeal to an uneducated religious base to vote against their own best interests, you have to use anything you have.
