It ain’t easy being a stepparent. (I’m no stepparent, but I am a stepchild.)

Elly appears to be just as astonished by Connie’s translation in the final panel as I am. Molly does actually appear to want to go out. She puts on her coat and she tells Connie where she is going. That’s not really something someone does if they didn’t really want to go out anyway. Personally, as a parent, I would not be letting my daughter walk to a mall in the winter in the middle of the night by herself and I am amazed this is even a possibility with Connie, but she doesn’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to parenting.

    A parent’s concern against a teen’s sarcasm, it’s a stalemate .

I thought she was 18. It was just a simple courtesy to tell her step mom where she was going and when she’d be back.

Also the problems of growing up, you want to be more like an adult, at least as far a doing what you want that is. Parents rule though no matter how tall you are.

The mall is a bad place for kids to hang out any time of day,and house rules prevail to at least 18,but Connie should try a more conciliatory tone with Molly if she wants to win her over.
