A friend of mine is a “Dave”. He is is angry about the bad economy. He has owned 6 cars in the last 3 years. Another concern is all the ISIS terrorists that are coming across the Mexican border. I have Black, Hispanic and Muslim neighbors. Strangely no riots or beheadings.

No matter how delusional some of the people that I’ve known for years, have become, no matter how shocking the level of political paranoia they’ve reached, in spite of the vitriol and vulgarity they’ve spew,

I have resolved to remain civil and non-aggressive, and after this debacle of democracy runs its course, I will still maintain a cordiality with them.

I do have to admit, that in some cases I continue to be sadly amazed at how seemingly rational, educated people could act this way.

Other friends, I’ve always been aware of their political bent and have accepted their views as part of their personalities and a result of their social, economic and educational backgrounds,

In either case, there’s no sense in trying to argue or discuss. They’ve closed their minds to reality and live in their alternate universes.

There will always be “yellow dog” votes. No matter how bad the candidate from their partly is. (Even if it’s literally a “yellow hound dog” on the ticket) They will never consider not voting the party line. It’s amazing the mental gymnastics they will do to defend the indefensible. As a cat I have a real issue with yellow dogs.

If a person’s life is so empty that he’s reduced to trolling the comments section on GoComics, he is perhaps more to be pitied than censured.
