I’m so glad Petey’s real friend made an appearance, too.

Petey’s imagination is very complex, given that his real friend Andre can see and read the “Ernesto pal card”….

If Ernesto IS real, he’s got a great future in megalomania.

I love the fact that I can never quite tell if Ernesto is real or imagined. I’m slightly troubled by the idea of him being imagined so well that he’s becoming real…. And I’m glad Andre isn’t troubled by any of this in the least.

Ernesto may in fact be real but his existence may be multi-dimension and unstable to where only Petey and Loris can interact with him..oh and Viola (I think that was her name). Once Petey touched the card, he caused it to solidify in the “real” world.

The doughnuts are imaginary, but the holes are real. They’re rather small, but be sure to count them all. When you have enough holes to fill the Albert Hall, put them on the cards and you’ll have enough doughnuts to last every day in your life. Oh boy!

Of course, since Petey doesn’t like doughnuts in the first place, a “lifetime supply” could be zero, in which case it doesn’t matter whether they’re real or imaginary.

How much longer do I have to read this cartoon before I understand it. Every commenter seems to love it, see something in it, know all the characters, etc. I’ve been reading for 3-4 months, and am completely lost in trying to find anything funny or deep or whatever the rest of you see. I’m not giving up, but sure feel stupid.

Ernesto exists in a quantum superposition much like Schrodinger’s Cat. We won’t know whether or not he really exists until his wave function collapses. (Or something like that…)

@fritzoid when I was little, my Dad would tell me not to eat the holes in the doughnuts, they would make me sick.
