I think it’s almost like one C&H comic where Calvin acts like a grouchy loser after Hobbes beats him again in checkers. “Look,” says the tiger, “it’s just a game.” “I know,” replies the boy, “you should see me lose in real life.”
This feels like an early attempt at a running joke, one that didn’t really take off.Still finding the evolution of this strip fascinating!

Let’s see. If they play 10 games a day, 5 days a week, that would take a little over THREE YEARS.
