Why would it bother the kids to get a little wet? I guess because it’s Sunday, and they can’t go to church or Sunday School with wet clothes?
Also, notice by this one Schroeder, Lucy, and Charlie all appear to be the same age. When the strip started, Charlie was somewhere around 7 or 8 years old, and Schroeder and Lucy were babies.

It’s a summer day if they need the sprinklers….you’ll dry, but the grownups in the house will come out and yell at you for “messing around!”
Just turn off the sprinkler!
