DOH! It’s not about the characters. It’s about the readers. Don’t over analyze the strip. Just let it happen.

Alex’s attention to relationships reminds me of the way some guys obsess over football strategy.

By golly, maybe George Carlin’s “Football vs. Baseball” skit has something to say about the sexes’ different approaches to relationships.
