Hate the taste of lima beans!!! Although, my dad could take some dried limas, add a bunch of tomato sauce and spices and make them almost edible. Luckily, he didn’t insist that we eat all of them.
Sorry, Dad, but I gotta side with Calvin on this one. I don’t know who it was that first decided that lima beans could or should be consumed by human beings, but I’m sure it must have been meant as a sick joke. The only product (grossly mislabeled as food) that is higher on my list of things that I will never eat is tofu.
I actually like baby lima beans, just barely cooked so they still have some texture. I like most vegetables, with the notable exception of okra. But I’m odd that way. Well, not ONLY in that way. BTW, I hate liver too.
I spent four years in the Marines in the ’60’s. And I ate a lot of C-rations. One meal had ham and limas, better known as “Ham and Mothers”. Hardly anyone liked them
I was so emotionally abused by my mother, I envied stories I heard from the Soviet Union where children could turn in their parents for not believing in communism, and the kids would be haled as heroes. A few years later in this country, parents really were being jailed by their kids turning them in by mentioning in school reports the parents’ drug use. My mom quickly shut down her grow operation, but by then I was a few years older and wiser. Timing is everything and my mom got lucky, but I think it’s odd that we put down the Soviets for jailing political dissidents, yet we had the same extreme punishments for drug dissidents.
" Do yer best and eliminate bad habits/procedures that you can truly do without and go lightly with the ones you keep.I live therefore I impact !"Very well put. I agree. Even hunter-gatherers had adverse effects on their local environment. I do what I can to minimize my impact and I’m raising my sons to do the same. BTW, I don’t need no stinkin’ law. It’s been decriminalized here (NY) since 1977.
You’re peaching to the choir dude. My reference was because I figured facts would have no bearing on the opinion of treesareus. He/she actually claimed that the Pilgrims attempted socialism.

I’ve got news for you, Calvin. Your home is not a democracy and was never set up to be one.

There should be a Yakov Smirnoff joke in this somehow. “In America, little kids hate vegetables. In Soviet Russia…”Can’t quite get it.

@Bats—As much as I loathe lima beans, I would NEVER insult them by comparing them to DarnOld Frump!

Lima beans. Ick. I’m with you, kid!

But lima beans are one of the few edible vegetables. As long as you don’t cook them so much they get mushy.

I used to eat lima beans years ago, but lost my taste for them over time. Now they just taste kinda plasticky and not that appealing.
