When my sister was going through this, my nephew would be ether be roasting or freezeing depending on whether the heater was on, or the window was open in the car.

Val, if I had the choice of being cold or hot, I would pick cold. At least you can put on layers then.

Besides, they might have control over her paycheck. Don’t want to mess with that.

Where I work at I don’t have this problem and I’m menopause way no hot flashes. Boss and Admin Assist are cold blooded. Thermostat in boss office with boss gone yesterday I got to warm. Admin Assist was comfortable. Someone suggest what to take for hot flashes. I don’t have hot flashes.

90F outside, 69.5 in my office with circulating cold air. I have fleece sweater on, laprobe on. Huge (old) office complex, same throughout. Management asked us to keep blinds closed to help in cooling the internal spaces!!! If only I could program my hot flashes!

Very cute comic. I remember the temperature wars before I retired. But Jan made a mistake in having accounting be too hot in the bottom floor of the office building. In our house when we get the house ready for A/C, my husband blocks the vents in the basement and we keep the basement door closed on the hot days. Why? because heat rises, causing the thermostat, which is upstairs, to trigger the A/C to go on. If we don’t close the door the BASEMENT becomes too cold, NOT the upstairs.

Accounting does seem to get stuck in the basement much of the time, but stop gap is right - heat rises, so this is illogical. Whenever people would tell me “at least you can put on more clothes if you’re cold”, I would point out that it is extremely difficult to type with gloves on. My fingers actually turn blue-purple from the cold in a normal a/c environment. One trick I learned though was to take my cold hands and put them on the back of someone’s neck. They usually believed me then! If the person was the type that got too hot, I would get thanked, and it thawed out my fingers.

I worked in many cold offices because of bosses who wore suits - so I wore suits in the office even in the summer, but removed my jacket outside and wore halter tops or such (and always kept a spare cardigan at the office). I also had NO hot flashes (or any other female problems- my 4 “babies” are now all entering their 50s).

stop gap, blocking vents is a good way to die of carbon monoxide.
