Barack Obama: We're gonna reform the financial system. We can't tell you what's in our plan cuz we haven't written the bill but even if we had we couldn't cuz it might not pass. But it's gonna be awesome! Man: I feel like I should be experiencing deja vu. Barack Obama: We can block that signal.

Ladies and gentlemen, the last American president …
In other news, the Potomac has recently been renamed the Rubicon.

There is one party, the Money Party with the Democrat and Republican branches (thanks, George Carlin). Vote third party, break the stranglehold of the rich and powerful on government.

The Prez is dancing as fast as he can.
The former Prez had two left feet, no brain, and Dick Cheney.

Aaaaaahhhh.”50 % off”, one of those fine words along with “thank you”, “please” and “you’re welcome” that brightens any day.

“myopic-without a reason- vision of the Hard Left.”
Except his eyes would still end up being even because of the vision of … pretty much the entire Right.Jaedabee Premium Member about 14 years ago
“the investor is missing his limbs due to the Wall Street Crisis…he has no more limbs to give! He’s finished! ”
So obviously … we should let things stay as they are so they can be eaten by the next Madoff or short-selling run. Regulations bad! But I’m puzzled… based on the DOW… they’re certainly doing much better now than they were 2 years ago…“Your distaste for Republicans is irrelevant, and pathological”
Hello Pot, meet Kettle.freeholder1 about 14 years ago
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Ever occur to anyone that the last few elections have been to let us know not to put our faith in ANY political party? We got the horn dog, the prairie dog and the Dawg and the problems just accelerate.

My 401(k) lost 500 clamshells yesterday cause the SEC is suing Goldman Sachs. Clearly we’re making progress.

ThePupWithoutFear: The idea that Obama is hard left is utterly ludicrous, unless you are far right. Sirrom567: What do you propose they do, not prosecute lawbreakers because it causes a temporary drop in your assets?
sirrom567 about 14 years ago
No, I’m more than happy to take a small hit for a good cause. I assume the guys at GS are taking a geometrically much bigger one.

I know I wouldn’t bother if a jackass on here mentioned his 401(k), but you’re a genuinely good guy, Sirrom. 401(k)’s are all ripoffs, but don’t take it from me.

Myself? For now I invest in real estate and silver. An investment is only as good as what you know about it though. Most people investing in the stock market are counting on CAPITAL GAINS, making for very unpredictable returns. I invest for CASH FLOW. My overall problem with any kind of mutual funds or other ‘low risk’ (I find them high risk) investments is that accomplished investors do not touch them beause the return is pathetic and unreliable. Moreover, instead they SPECIALIZE on an asset they know a lot about. Diversification is bad advice and only a protection against ignorance…usually your fund manager’s ignorance.

I struggle to think of anything more wearisome than hearing neocons WHINE that Obama is so radically leftwing. Really? He didn’t nationalize healthcare, you know. He makes giveaway bills to the BUSINESS sector. He is great at being a REPUBLICAN.

“401(k)’s are all ripoffs, but don’t take it from me.”
I inherited it from the job that laid me off in August ‘09. I was only in it to get the company contribution. I’m not an “investor” – when Bush was in office I rooted for the stock market to crash.
And genuine thanks for the “good guy” comment.
mattro65 about 14 years ago
Based on your comment about taking a small hit for a good cause, I’ll go along with the good guy comment.

According to Margaret Thatcher, there is NO LEFT in the United States. Sharp lady, for a Brit.
mattro65 about 14 years ago
I’m hard left, and the Pup without logic is full of it. Obama is nowhere near to hard left, and I and all of my fellow travelers that I know do not wish to control other people. The real left, as opposed to the fictional BS promulgated by the right, is about distancing ourselves from government control. If you don’t know what you are talking about, you should just shut up.

mattro53,
So… are you Leninist, Stalinist, Maoist, or what?
As for me, I wear bananas in my hair…

No, I’m a Dead Head.

I can’t tell you how many hours/days of the Senate Finance Committee markup on health care I watched on C-Span. And then the endless redundant speeches on the Senate floor. What more was there to figure out, Pup?
SuperGriz about 14 years ago
mattro53,
Oh, I see. You’re a Groucho Marxist.
mattro65 about 14 years ago
Or a grouchy semi-Marxist.
