Why do cops on the street, sailors in submarines, or for that matter general officers doing press conferences wear “cammo” fatigues??? There is a disjunct psychology being played here to make “civilians” recognize, and accept that militarization so desired by the military industrial complex, and yes those “conservative thinkers” accept the omnipotent power of “the state”. It is NOT a “liberal” view of independent thought, questioning of “authority” misplaced, or subjugation of our freedoms.
Cammo has become the 21st century version of “brown shirts” and in Italy at that time, black shirts. Acceptance becomes submission- not good for a free and democratic society…
For many years I’ve deplored the wearing of camo at all occasions. I just can’t figure out if this represents a [lame] attempt by the military to show that they are always ready or if shows just the military version of ‘casual Friday’ – every day of the week.
I wonder if all the militarization of police departments has something to do with the Forbes 400 worrying about when the pitchforks are going to come out.

These military weapons are no match for my Steampunk Laser Gun.

Well said, dtroutma. From now on, I’ll use the term “camos” in place of brownshirts.
